VIDEO: 0-60 pits Ford Raptor against BMW X6 M in winter issue
Filed under: Truck, Videos, Crossover, BMW, Ford
The Ford SVT Raptor and the BMW X6 M are alike in that both cars represent the most extreme versions of their base forms. The Raptor, with its the triple-bypass Fox shocks and 35-inch tires, is a Baja-ready version of the F-150 right off the showroom floor. Meanwhile, the BMW X6 M is the 550-horsepower speed-demon version of the mild-mannered X6 luxury crossover. The two rides have little in common other than their extreme, top-tier positioning, yet 0-60 Magazine has found a way to put the two together for its Winter 2010 issue.
We don’t know what the gang at 0-60 actually did with the Raptor and the X6 M, but the magazine has managed to slap together a teaser video to whet the palette. Hit the jump to watch 0-60 have a bit of fun with the X6 M and the SVT Raptor. And if you’re not a big fan of the vid, you can simply sit back and enjoy the 1:21-minute excerpt of Motley Crue’s “Kickstart My Heart” that sets the aural backdrop to the onscreen mayhem.

Vroom for Everyone: Local Motors unveiling crowdsourced Rally Fighter at SEMA [w/VIDEO]
Filed under: SEMA Show, Coupe, Off-Road
The wild things have left the movie theaters and are headed toward Las Vegas. Destination? SEMA. Case in point, the Rally Fighter. Local Motors, the company that plans to build the offroadster, is attempting an industry first: dipping into the collective wisdom of the Internet (we’re not sure if “wisdom” is the right word there, but whatever) to crowdsource the design and specifications of their first vehicle. Intended to be an eco-minded Baja-capable daily driver, the Rally Fighter uses a BMW 335d powerplant to achieve 36 mpg on the highway and 30 mpg off-road. Why is decent fuel economy important? Local Motors‘ CEO Jay Rogers fought in the Iraq war as a Marine and “saw the oil problem with his own eyes,” says the company’s PR.
According to company officials, the Rally Fighter left Wareham, Massachusetts yesterday in order to make it to SEMA for its unveiling on November 3. For more on Local Motors’ microfactory and crowdsourcing processes, you can check out
a video of Rogers after the jump. You don’t often hear an automotive CEO compare his company to Build-A-Bear, but you can in this case.

REPORT: McLaren MP4-12C U.S. launch delayed, not coming to LA Auto Show
Filed under: LA Auto Show, Coupe, Performance
According to InsideLine, McLaren is having issues setting up distribution in the U.S., resulting in a delay of the MP4-12C’s Stateside launch and its plans to show its newest supercar at the LA Auto Show this December.
Late last month, McLaren appointed Anthony Joseph, former regional manager for Porsche, Ferrari and Maserati, to setup the automaker’s dealer network in the U.S., but over the course of the last few weeks McLaren has apparently hit a few roadblocks and it’s expected that the creation of retail outlets will be delayed until sometime next year. With the economy in its current state, that may be a blessing in disguise, but that does little to stave off our desire to see the MP4-12C on the show stand.

VIDEO: Buick Regal sneak peek shows face we already know
Filed under: Sedan, Videos, Buick
A couple of weeks back, General Motors officially announced that its next new Buick will carry a very familiar name: Regal. Two days later, the apparent U.S. spec Regal was added to Buick’s Facebook page, revealing that the Regal sold here in the States will essentially be the same as the China spec Buick sedan, which is itself essentially a rebadged Opel Insignia. Got all that?
The only changes we noticed in the photo include a slightly bigger and more rounded-off version of Buick’s chrome waterfall grille and redesigned lower openings below the grille and headlamps along with the new squared-off fog lamps. After seeing a new “viral” video from Buick, we’re more sure than ever that the FB Regal is the U.S. model.
Hit the jump to check out Buick’s latest tease of the new Regal. The video was shot guerrilla hand-held style and it reveals nothing other than the front end of Buick’s newest sedan. We do see, however, that the grille, badging and lower fascia shown in the video appear to be a match to the photo shown above. Judging by the uptick in Regal info emanating from the General, we’re guessing the information floodgates will be opened up very soon.
